Woodfire Pizza & Pasta is a new local restaurant on Gabriola Island, BC that offers a mouth-watering menu of gourmet woodfire pizzas and fine Italian pastas.
When approached by the owners to help them create a web site and online marketing strategy, we couldn't resist. After all, they did offer us free pizza - and beer!
With the hectic pace that comes with owning a restaurant, a key requirement was that the site had to be easy to manage, and include the ability to add, sort, and categorize menu items, as well as to promote upcoming events.
Implementation
The site was designed to reflect the casual elegance of the restaurant's atmosphere; and a strong focus on the creative menu and quality ingredients.
Meeting all the developmental requirements of the site was achieved using Drupal, with heavy use of the Panels 3 and Views 2 modules, that combined to provide the perfect mix of robust features needed to easily manage the content, and keep the site (almost) as fresh as the food.

Custom Menu Item Entry Form
A custom form was developed to allow restaurant staff to add, delete, or edit individual menu items, with the ability to categorize each item for display in various sections of the menu, and in the desired sort order.
Dynamic Image Processing
Entry forms for site content that includes images, provide an upload feature that dynamically re-sizes the image for optimal display.
Banner Promotion Box
A simple check-box on the news and events entry form gives owners the ability to display a featured news and events item in the site banner. Featured items are automatically sorted so that only the most recent item is displayed.
